Putting a twist on tradition with mashed turnips

Preparation

1. Place a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat. When cooking, add the beets cook until they are soft, about 20-30 minutes (with a knife tenderness to check beets.).

2. Drain the water parsnips, turnips adding back into the pot. Add the butter, sugar, pepper and salt. Mash the turnip with butter and spices with a pestle until a desired consistency. Taste, adjust seasoning and serve.
