6. On the banana
• Bananas are available all year round.
• When selecting bananas, select plump fruits with perfect skin and without signs of deterioration.
• Banana continue to ripen after harvest. Ripe yellow banana are solid yellow skin with brown spots. Bananas are ripe red skin dark red with black spots and feel a bit softer than ripe yellow variety. Both varieties mature and darker than bananas age.
• Store at room temperature bananas at full maturity. Once mature, I can see the fruits in the refrigerator for several days. If you, a banana with a green tip, buy the ripened at room temperature within two to three days
• Once peeled, irrigation of bananas with lemon or lime juice to prevent them from browning.
• Easy unripe bananas are best for cooking with brown sugar and butter. Overripe bananas are ideal for cakes and bread.
